
On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at approximately 7:03 am, a vehicle crash occurred on the Howard Frankland Bridge. Witnesses reported one vehicle flipping multiple times before eventually going into Tampa Bay. Source.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Wilson Rowland was on the inside lane traveling southbound on I-275 near the 34 mile mark when a white Saturn SUV traveling southbound overtook his vehicle at a high rate of speed.
Due to the confusing nature of the report, further clarification of details on the crash are needed, and Florida Highway Patrol stated that charges may be pending as drivers were attempting to pass and block each other.
When the SUV overtook Wilson’s Ford F150, it reportedly rotated before flipping multiple times and ultimately entered the water of the Tampa Bay. Tampa Police have recovered the SUV from the water and will assume all recovery operations. At this time, no occupants have been recovered from the water.
