Driver Killed in Crash

On Sunday, January 9, 2022, a 44-year-old driver was killed after another driver ran a red light and collided with his pickup truck. The crash took place at the intersection of State Road 60 and U.S. 301 in east Hillsborough County at around 3:18 in the morning. The driver who ran the red light, 39-year-old Michael Sean Jones, was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI manslaughter. Source.

Jones was traveling east on State Road 60 when he failed to stop at a red light, causing him to collide with a pickup truck traveling north on U.S. 301. The pickup truck driver died on the scene. Two other vehicles that were stopped at the red light were also hit. Both of these vehicles rotated across the intersection following the initial collision. The drivers of these vehicles, along with Jones, sustained minor injuries.
