A fatal crash that occurred at Tampa Road and Lake St. George Drive in Palm Harbor is currently being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash, which involved three vehicles and resulted in one fatality, occurred just before 11:30 am on Friday, October 18, 2019. Source.
The two drivers who survived the crash were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
43-year-old Stephanie Tunender of Palm Harbor was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Sedan, traveling westbound on Tampa Road, west of Lake St. George Drive. The other two vehicles were in the center and inside lanes traveling eastbound on Tampa Road.
Tunender’s Volkswagen departed the westbound lanes for an unknown reason, crossing the center median break at the entrance to the Shoppes At Cloverplace. After crossing the median, the Volkswagen entered the path of a 2017 Nissan SUV in the center eastbound lane, colliding with the front of the vehicle. Tuneneder’s Volkswagen rotated from the impact, which led to a Toyota Minivan colliding to the rear of the Volkswagen.
Tunender suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash, and Florida Highway Patrol has reported that she was not wearing a seatbelt.
