On August 20, 2022, a crash on U.S. Highway 19 in Palm Harbor, Florida, left all southbound lanes closed for nearly five hours, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Two Harley-Davidson motorcycles were traveling south on the highway when traffic began to slow in front of them. One of the motorcycles lost control of their vehicle, causing them to collide with the second motorcyclist. Both motorcycles overturned and crashed into a Ford F-250.
Both riders on the first motorcycle died following the crash – the driver died at the scene, and his passenger died after being airlifted to a nearby hospital. The driver and passenger of the second motorcycle suffered severe injuries. Source.
In many cases, riders in motorcycle accidents are not wearing helmets, causing more severe injuries and increasing the possibility of losing a life. Unfortunately, in this crash, none of the motorcyclists were wearing helmets. The catastrophic injuries caused by not wearing a helmet can cause not only physical injuries but financial damage as well.
