At approximately 10 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2019, a crash involving a wrong-way driver occurred in Hillsborough County. Source.
Anthony Shaw, 45, of St. Petersburg, was traveling southbound on US-301 while in the northbound lanes, according to troopers. Shaw was driving his 2001 Acura 3.2 TL when he struck a 2017 Chevy pickup truck traveling northbound. Deborah Fordom, 62, of Riverview, was driving the pickup truck.
The vehicles were involved in a head-on collision. Shaw suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. Fordom suffered serious injuries and was transported to Tampa General Hospital. Florida Highway Patrol troopers are working to determine if Shaw was impaired, had a medical emergency, or a combination of both, that contributed to the crash.
